The Kentucky Wildcats took a big hit to their defense against South Carolina.
It came late in the third quarter with Kentucky leading 24-10 during an interception return by Darius West. During the return, Kash Daniel was called for targeting on an hit.
I believe it was an illegal hit as the play was dead at the point of contact. I would understand a call for unnecessary roughness. This hit doesn’t fall anywhere in the definition of “targeting”.
So what does this mean… It means in addition to losing Kash Daniel for the remainder of the South Carolina game, we also lose him for the first half next week. Just a reminder that the game next week is our toughest opponent thus far, being Texas A&M.
Check it out, do you think this is targeting and warrants this severe of a punishment?
