After the NBA Draft Lottery last night, one of the biggest questions was if Anthony Davis would still want to leave New Orleans. The Pelicans landed he #1 pick which means they will almost certainly be adding Zion Williamson. Would that be enough to keep Davis?
Initial reports said Davis’ stance had not changed:
The New Orleans Pelicans are now set up to be Zion Williamson’s franchise to lift, and No. 1 pick could ease potential trade of Anthony Davis. His stance on a trade has not changed, league sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium.

Pelican’s general manager, David Griffin, thinks the Pelicans have a chance to keep Davis.
“We have reason to believe we can build something that is attractive. If I’m Anthony Davis, I’m skeptical. He felt compelled to try to win elsewhere. [But] If you look at the totality where this organization is, we feel very strongly we’ll be the environment he wants to be in.
“If not, we can deal with it from there. I’m looking at this that I believe he would want to win with us. It’s who we are. We knew we were the epicenter of the offseason. Now we are to a greater degree.
“If you put elite talent together, they’ll figure it out. if you think about truly elite basketball players, figure out a way to play together,’’ Griffin said. “This game has become so positionless, you’re versatile. our team has potential to be really dominant defensively with guys who can really score. It’s a really exciting nucleus to be building with. There aren’t a lot of teams able to offer the trio we’ll be able to put out there.’’
While Davis would be a hot commodity on the market, I’d really like to see what him and Zion could do together.
