The former Kentucky Wildcat could return to the Golden State Warriors next season.
The Warriors will be making moves to keep Kevin Durant and/or Klay Thompson who will also be free agents with Cousins. Thompson’s father said today that he will definitely be re-signing with the Warriors.
Cousins was on a one-year, $5.3 million deal this season after his achilles injury. He tore his quad during Game 2 against the Clippers. That sidelined him for seven weeks but he returned in the NBA Finals.
The big man averaged 16.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 38 total games this season.
If it weren’t for his quad injury, Cousins could have potentially landed close to a max contract. He will still shop around but Cousins told Anthony Slater he is “open to” re-signing with the Warriors.
“It was a weird summer last summer. So you never know how things work out,” Cousins said following the Warriors NBA Finals 4-2 loss to the Toronto Raptors. “I’m open and I’ll make the best decision for myself and my family. We’ll see which way the wind blows.”
