Mitch Barnhart Makes Decision Regarding Alcohol Sales

The Kentucky Wildcats Athletic Director, Mitch Barnhart, announced in a press conference today that alcohol will not be sold at athletic events.

“We have decided to not have public alcohol sales at any UK athletic events during the 2019-20 season,” Barnhart said. “It is our goal, as well as our responsibility, to create a safe, secure, positive, engaging environment for fans of all ages and from all walks of life. We believe we have an outstanding college fan experience at our games; though we recognize we can always find ways to do better, we’re also careful about what we have currently in place.”

“This is the decision… this was my call.” Barnhart also added that he will not revisit this every season however it’s not closed for good.

After the SEC lifted the ban, two schools have decided to being selling alcohol immediately.
